The Search is on for Junior Miss Cumbria

The search is on for a girl aged 13-16 to represent Cumbria at the Britain’s Junior Miss Final in November 2016. The young lady selected will earn the title Junior Miss Cumbria, receive a crown and sash and be supported by the Junior Miss Team and given a Scholarship with The Crown Academy. A scheme set up to empower and promote young women.

Organisers are looking for a young woman to be a representative and Ambassador for the area.

As well as take part in a Professional Catwalk Fashion Show at the end of the year, the successful applicant will be supported to promote their area, help out with local charitable events and raise money for Charity.

Organisers are keen to distance themselves from the preconceptions people may have and insist that the event is far removed from an “old fashioned beauty pageant”.

Co-organiser Olivia Seed said:

“People think that events like ours are all about parading in bikinis and being the best looking girl in the Town. It frustrates me so much that it’s peoples’ views and understanding of what we do that are stuck in the 80’s and old fashioned, not what we do.

We want to help people understand what our events are about and learn what we do to create young role models and ambassadors.

Olivia a former Junior Miss Fylde Coast Winner continued;

“Britain’s Junior Miss is designed to inspire confidence within young girls. They help young women understand their worth and encourage them to do good within their community and further afield.

Each girl will take part in fundraising for charity, confidence building events and an interview and activity day as well as taking part in a professional Catwalk Fashion Show.

We don’t look for the finished product or someone who is entirely confident and has previous experience; in metaphorical terms we look for a seedling.

Someone who is ready to develop and flourish through self development and community efforts, as well as hold a responsible title and being a role model for other girls.

We search for inner beauty and unique values, not for the outer appearance.

If people have ever thought you aren’t pretty enough to take part. That’s wrong. If people have ever thought our event is completely about looks, size and figure. That’s wrong too.

Within this competition you make incredible friends that will motivate and inspire you and will be surrounded by people who want to support you and see you do well”

Organisers are accepting entries from 13 to 16 year old enthusiastic young women.
